Role Overview
The Town of Slaughterville is seeking a dedicated and personable Office Assistant to serve as the first point of contact for our citizens. In this vital public service role, you will represent the town by greeting visitors, answering inquiries, and supporting daily administrative operations at Town Hall. We are looking for a candidate who is pleasant and flexible, and committed to providing excellent customer service to our community.
Key Responsibilities
- First Point of Contact: Greet citizens and visitors warmly as they arrive at Town Hall and clarify the purpose of their visit.
- Communication Management: Answer and redirect multi-line phone calls, providing accurate information and assistance to callers.
- Administrative Support: Perform general clerical duties, including typing, filing, and processing documents such as zoning and permit applications.
- Mail Handling: Receive, sort, and distribute daily incoming mail and deliveries.
Requirements and Skills
- Customer Service Attitude: A friendly, welcoming, and patient demeanor when dealing with diverse groups of people.
- IT Proficiency: Strong basic computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office, Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and standard office equipment (printers, fax machine, etc.). Applicants must be willing to learn computer programs that are specific to The Town of Slaughterville.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Experience: Previous experience in an office setting, customer service, or administrative role is preferred but not required.
